Nada Hafez is an Egyptian artist working mainly in visual fine arts. She holds a bachelors degree in fine arts from the American University in Cairo along with a semester in Parsons school of design Paris in painting and drawing. Art has always been a passion however, in 2019 after working in the IT industry for over 6 years she took the decision to pursue Art full-time along with being a mother of two. The main theme in Nada’s work focuses on fluid figures and how the body reacts to surroundings and different emotions; the constant struggle between the urge to paint the human figure and at the same time the hesitation to allow it to stay within the painting. With her fluid brushstrokes we see shapes that begin to dissolve and cohere from one moment to the next as if the painting is in continuous transformation, It is almost as if the painting is blending body and landscape with the strokes of color and the lines seem to dictate themselves.
Nada experiments with all mediums but is mainly working with watercolor and charcoal as she feels the application of the colors and how they run on paper conveys the fluidness she is trying to depict in her paintings. She has been privileged to work under the mentorship of several prominent Egyptian artists such as the late pioneer Hassan Soliman and the late artist and mentor Magd el Sagini that have inspired her and her way of looking at things differently. Finally, Nada has been exhibiting her work locally and abroad in both solo and group exhibitions since 2008.
