Afraa Ahmed (b.1992, Yemen), currently based in Cairo, is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work includes installation, sculpture, photography and video. She holds a degree in Multimedia Technology from Asia Pacific University in Malaysia. There she began to explore the ways familiarity and ‘safety’ of home stay within us even after being disconnected.
Her work has been exhibited in Malaysia, Egypt and New York, in addition to Washington, D.C at the Middle East Institute. Afraa received a grant from The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) to expand her practice focusing on the spectrum regarding the meaning of home.
