SWANA Chronicles

Houria Mosbah

Houria Mosbah is an Algerian artist whose multidisciplinary work spans music, photography, art direction, and design. Her artistic journey is rooted in Algiers, grounding her work in personal narratives that explore broader themes such as cultural identity, nostalgia, and the everyday paradoxes of Algerian life. Her projects, including the photography series Dolce Wa Banana and her clothing brand Zirides, reflect her commitment to an authentic aesthetic that highlights the multifaceted nature of Algerian culture, both past and present.

In addition to her artistic creations, Houria delves into themes of memory and Algeria’s cultural heritage. Through her fanzines ZahriL’sif el madi, and Alger-Paris, she offers a visual and narrative exploration of her personal experiences, while also addressing broader emotional, social, and cultural themes.
