SWANA Chronicles

khedija Jeddi

Self-taught artist, Khedija Essaied Jeddi (1976), looks at the world through the eyes of an eternal child. The artist uses her sensitivity to subjects, some of which are recurring in her reflection, to deliver narrative work, mixing texts, embroidery, painting and pastels.

Her artistic work is constructed and fleshed out mainly around issues that are related to political and social news. The text which accompanies each artwork or almost, is an integral part of the work proposed, questioning an intimate and opposing, a childish aesthetic to adult remarks, sometimes harsh, often serious.

Graduated from a business school, she lived in different countries. She discovered embroidery and weaving among the Pakistanis, in the UAE.

Her work is part of the personal collection of Sandra Mulliez, founder of SAM project, as well as other private collectors in Paris and Tunis.

She has exhibited regularly, for several years, at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery in Tunisia.
