Mai Koraiem

Mai Koraiem was born in Alexandria on May 5, 1980. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, specializing in the Painting Department, in 2003, marking the start of her art journey.

In 2013, Mai began her comics career and, in 2015, she published her first graphic novel, “When the Gods Gave Up on Kavafis.” The novel was recognized at the Cairo Comix Festival, where it was chosen as one of the top three graphic novels.

In 2017, Mai won the Best Short Story award at the Cairo Comix Festival for “Pour Femme.” In 2018, she broadened her horizons by publishing a children’s book and an educational book with Aphorisma Publishing House in Berlin.

In 2020, Mai released her second graphic novel, “Case 43 Labban,” published by Kotobna Publishing House. In 2021, she received the Best Graphic Novel award at the Mahmoud Kahil Award 2022, also winning Best Comic Book in the Middle East. In the same year, she published two more comics, “West Bank” and “The City’s Key.”

In 2023, Mai expanded her reach by releasing a new graphic novel through the Tunisian publishing house, Pop Libris, titled “25 July.”

Mai Koraiem’s artistic journey is marked by storytelling prowess and dedication to pushing the boundaries of graphic art.
