Randa Mirza

Born in Lebanon in 1978.
Lives and works between Beirut and Marseille.

In 2005, she won first prize in photography at the 5th Francophone Games. She was also awarded the No Limit prize at the Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles in 2006, an international prize which rewards an artist whose work takes photography beyond the boundaries of the medium, as well as the Maison Blanche Prize in 2013, the Polyptique prize in 2022 and 2023, the Eyes Wide Open prize from the Eyes association and the Photo Folio review at the Rencontres d’Arles.

Her work has been shown in personal exhibitions: Fotohof, Austria (2020), Les Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles (2019), Biennale of Photographers of the Contemporary Arab World (2017), Galerie Sfeir-Semler (Hamburg), Galerie Tanit ( Beirut / Munich), PhotoMed festival (Beirut / Sanary-sur-mer), Finnish Museum of Photography (Finland). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions: Kunsthalle Trier (Germany), MUCEM (Marseille), Valencia Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), Sursock Museum (Beirut), Philipes de Pury (London), FIAC (Paris), Miami Basel (USA), Armory Show (NY), Visa pour l’Image (France), Paris-Photo (2011-2014-2017-2022), Fondazione Merz (Torino), Fotomuseum Winterthur (Zurich), Fotofestival Mannheim- Ludwigshafen- Heidelberg (Germany), Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), Center for arts and media Karlsruhe | ZKM (Germany) and Beirut Art Center (Lebanon).

Her performances have been produced in numerous national theaters, arts centers and festivals across France, in Europe and the Arab world: Foundation Cartier for Contemporary Art, Philharmonie de Paris, Institut du Monde Arabe, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Jazzaldia, Banlieues Bleues, Bordeaux Arts Festival, Meetings on the scale. She was a resident artist at La Becque (Switzerland), La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), NIFCA (Nordic Institute for Contemporary Arts, Finland), HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Program, Finland) and at the Fondazione Bevilaqua La Masa (Venice).

Her works is part of public and private collections: Sursock Museum, Frac Sud, Institut du monde arabe.
