Beya Othmani

Beya Othmani is an art curator and researcher from Tunisia and Algeria. Currently, she divides her time between Tunis and New York.

Othmani’s recent research has been focused on exhibition histories, the construction of racial identities in art, and state-led exhibition-making practices in colonial and post-colonial Africa. Othmani is currently a CAORC/Andrew Mellon Art History fellow, and she is, as of January 2024, a C-MAP Africa Fellow at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York City. 

Apart from research, Othmani is also involved in various curatorial projects. Some of her recent projects include the Ljubljana 35th Graphic Arts Biennial and Publishing Practices #2 at Archive Berlin. She is currently co-curating an exhibition series for the Ford Foundation Gallery in New York. 

Previously, she was a member of the Berlin-based art space, SAVVY Contemporary and took part in the curatorial teams of various projects with sonsbeek20→24 (2020), the Forum Expanded of the Berlinale (2019), or the Dak’Art 13 Biennial (2018), among others.
