Nagham Hodaifa’s work explores the human condition through the representation of the body and/or by its disappearance. She includes questions such as intimacy/desire, inner/physical, nature/pollution, threshold/ending, birth/death and the notion of what we leave behind to nature.
As a painter, she creates using various materials and different techniques. Her painting materializes on different scales: on large-format polyptychs, sometimes exceeding several meters and others not even a decimeter.
She graduated from the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University and received her PhD in Contemporary Art History from the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She has held numerous exhibitions and performances, sometimes creating multi-disciplinary events by combining painting with music, dance, poetry and calligraphy.
Born in Syria in 1981, lives and works in France since 2005.
